Brayering in Paris at Twilight

My friends, Kate and Julie, and I spent the weekend at a lake cabin having Stamp Camp. While there we worked on the brayering tutorial posted today at the OWH Stars and Stamps blog.

I love this new stamp set, Artistic Etchings, and have made a number of cards with it already. I thought it was perfect for a brayered card. I started with a 4″ X 5 1/4″ base of Whisper White. I embossed the Eiffel Tower stamp onto it using VersaMark, Basic Black Classic ink, clear embossing powder and a heat gun. Any Classic or dye ink can be turned into craft by first inking your stamp in VersaMark and then your Classic or dye ink. I used the same technique to emboss the intricate circle stamp in Daffodil Delight. I think this would also look great embossed with just VersaMark and clear embossing powder.

Then, using the techniques in the video, I brayered Pretty in Pink Classic ink to the top two-thirds of the card. I then brayered Regal Rose Classic ink to the top half of the card. After cleaning my brayer for the color switch, I brayered Marina Mist Classic Ink to the top two-thirds of the card. Then I brayered Rich Razzleberry Classic ink on the top third of the card. I then brayered Night of Navy Classic ink over the top third of the card. I sponged Old Olive Classic and Chocolate Chip Classic ink over the bottom third of the card. I used a white gel pen to dot some stars in the twilight sky.

I didn’t think the card needed any more embellishment, so adhered it to a 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ Whisper White base.

Many thanks to Kate for her great work in editing and producing the brayering tutorial video.
